High pressure has taken over the region and has set up shop just off the Atlantic coast. This high pressure is the reason why we are so warm and humid for this time of the year. The average high temperature for this time of the year is 63 degrees. This week Central Pennsylvania’s high temperatures have been in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. That is about 15-20 degrees above average.

The above average temperatures are one thing but when you add in the humidity it is down right nasty feeling outside. The dewpoint temperatures for Central Pennsylvania have remained high this week, in the mid to upper 60s.

A cold front is just off to our west and will arrive Thursday. Thursday will remain warm and humid just ahead of the front. Once the cold front passes through Central Pennsylvania Thursday evening the cool air will move in.

Cool and chilly air moves in Thursday night and will take over the region throughout the weekend. The dewpoint temperatures will plummet down into the upper 30s to the lower 40s. This means it will not feel humid at all and the air will feel crisp and dry. Some cities could see their low temperatures fall into the upper 30s Saturday night. The high temperatures will remain around average (62) for this time of the year throughout the weekend and into the start of next week.
