If you want to help the areas hit by hurricane Florence but can’t make the trip down there, local organizations are offering other ways to lend a hand.
“One of the most helpful things would be clean water, there is a lot of that, that is provided, but any help will be very beneficial, and same thing for maybe some small toiletries,” said Eliza Shaw, Outreach Coordinator for State College Centre Lifelink EMS.
Those toiletries could be a toothbrush and toothpaste, or a small travel bag of toiletries.
Shaw said if you would like to volunteer with them for a natural disaster situation, you can go through EMT training, or help with other teams.
“We also have our search and rescue team, our Crest team, that people can join with no training at all, and they do things like disaster relief,” Shaw said.
Centre Lifelink EMS gives monthly training and throughout the year.
Shaw said even if they don’t deploy out help, they will make sure any donated items get sent to teams that do deploy.
