As the American Red Cross Greater Pennsylvania Region continues to support the relief effort following Hurricane Florence, they are preparing to assist those who impacted by Hurricane Michael.

As of Tuesday night, more than 3,100 Red Cross staff and volunteers have been assigned to the Hurricane Michael and Florence Relief Efforts. Nine people from the Greater Pennsylvania Region are currently being sent to Florida, with more expected to be deployed in the coming days. Since Hurricane Florence, the America Red Cross has deployed 85 people from our 50-county region.

Tuesday night, roughly 4,000 people stayed in shelters as a result of Hurricane Michael. There are still nearly 550 people in shelters from Hurricane Florence. While the effort following Florence is beginning to shift from sheltering to casework and bulk distribution, sheltering is currently the primary concern for people in the path of Hurricane Michael.
