MENLO PARK, Ca. (WTAJ) — Facebook has announced new features along with a complete redesign at F8, their “annual conference about the future of technology.”

Facebook announced changes to Messenger, including rebuilding the app from the ground up. The new redesign is expected to roll out later this year.

Messenger will now also enable users to “seamlessly share a video from the Facebook app on Messenger and invite others to watch together while messaging or on a video chat,” according to Facebook. In addition to a redesigned mobile app for Messenger, Messenger will also be getting a desktop app.

Facebook also announced that they will be rolling out a new design, that’s being called “FB5.” Groups are being heavily emphasized in the new design in what Facebook hopes will bring people in their communities together offline. They aim to make it easier to discover and participate in groups, and also supporting specific communities, such as Health Support groups, Job groups, and Gaming groups, according to Facebook. 

Facebook also announced Facebook Dating as a new feature, where users can “opt in to discover potential matches within your own Facebook communities: events, groups, friends of friends and more,” according to Facebook. 

Along with Facebook Dating comes another new feature called “Secret Crush,” which will enable users to add up to nine of their Facebook friends to the list, and if that person also add you to their list, it becomes a match. 

Facebook also announced new ways to meet friends, shipping and paying on Marketplace, and a new events tab.
