Penn State has plenty of new faces on its starting defense.

Jan Johnson is the Nittany Lions starting middle linebacker as a walk on. He is from Reading, PA, and earned a starting spot.

He spent some time with the Penn State wrestling team his redshirt freshman season.

Johnson has family connections to Penn State athletics as well.
