Penn State football will once again open up Big Ten play with a Friday night game on the road.
The Nittany Lions will play at Maryland on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, to open conference play. It marks the second year in a row Penn State will play a Friday night game in that same situation. PSU played at Illinois on a Friday night this last season.
The conference started this practice in 2017. Penn State has already announced it will not host a home Friday night game.
Coach James Franklin has also discussed how he does not like playing games on Friday nights because of balancing travel and academics on a shorter week.
– But – Penn State is not the only school who has to deal with the change. Local high schools now wonder how the occasional Friday night game might affect their crowds or attention.
WTAJ’s Jack Wascher caught up with some local high school coaches in Central PA. You can watch the full story above.
