Loretto, Pa. – Seniors Malik Harmon (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) and Daniel Wallace (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) scored season-highs with 21 and eight points respectively, and junior Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O’Connell (Va.)) added a game-high 23 points as the Saint Francis men’s basketball team (16-11, 10-6 NEC) defeated Bryant (3-26, 2-14 NEC) 89-56 on senior day. Senior Deon Baker (Pittsburgh,Pa/Gateway), the last of the trio honored on senior day, earned the start and added two points and a rebound.

Krimmel’s Reaction

“I am so proud of this group of seniors,” said head coach Rob Krimmel. “The word I use to describe this group is selfless. Malik has had to accept a different role and Daniel and Deon are huge energy guys for us making sure we are ready for every game. Their impact on this program is unmeasurable so I am glad they were able to go out this way in front of a huge crowd today.”

Turning Point

Krimmel awarded his three seniors with starts and was rewarded immediately as Baker, Wallace and Harmon scored SFU’s first three buckets. It was a 17-15 lead for Saint Francis with 8:11 to play in the first half before SFU opened the floodgates with an 11-0 run. King was instrumental during the spurt with seven of SFU’s 11. The Red Flash saw a 16-point second half lead evaporate on Thursday and made sure this lead held. The Red Flash led 37-21 at the half but scored the first eight points of the second half to open up a 43-21 lead. Bryant wouldn’t get closer than 18 points the rest of the way.
