The New York Jets have fired the team’s general manager and vice president of player personnel Wednesday.
General Manager Mike Maccagnan and VP of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger will move on from New York the Jets said in a statement.
The Jets announce head coach Adam Gase will act as the team’s interim general manager.
According to multiple reports, the deal to sign former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell played a role in tension which contributed to Wednesday’s news.
Bell signed a four-year deal worth $52.5 million this offseason to go to New York. Christopher Johnson is the CEO of the New York Jets.
