The Penn State Intercollegiate Athlectics (ICA) has set the start times for one-way traffic patterns for the 2019 football season, in consultation with University Police and other local travel officials.

A game that begins at noon will have the one-way traffic pattern begin at 8:30 a.m. The parking lots at Beaver Stadium will open at 7 a.m. to provide fans with a 90 minute window to get to their parking lot by any route.

All of the other games, the one-way traffic pattern will start four hours before kick off.

  • 3:30 p.m. kick off: the stadium lots will open at 8 a.m. and the one-way pattern will start at 11:30 a.m.
  • 6 p.m. kick off: the stadium lots will be opening at 8 a.m. and the one-way pattern will start at 2 p.m.
  • 8 p.m. kick off: the stadium lots will open at 8 a.m. and the one-way pattern will start at 4 p.m.

Penn State Athletics announced last November that several changes for traffic and parking for the 2019 season were on the way to address traffic and parking challenges on game day. The changes are being implemented after the evaluation operation by the University with SP+ as an outside consultant.

The most significant changes include the creation of four traffic zones and designating game day parking for general parking lots. The names or numbers of some parking lots have changed for the 2019 season.

For the fans that are required to access a parking lot by a specific zone once the one-way pattern begins.

As soon as the one-way traffic pattern begins, fans will be required to get to their specific Beaver Stadium lot from one of the four created traffic zones (North, South, East, and West). All of the parking permits will have zone with lot specific driving directions.

Vehicles that attempt to access their parking lot from the incorrect traffic zone will be re-routed to the right zone, which will get them to the parking lot later, once the one-way traffic pattern begins.

One-way traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately 90 minutes post-game.

University Police have indicated to the ICA that a majority of foot traffic clear the Beaver Stadium area about 90 minutes after the game ends. The out-bound one-way traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately 90 minutes. Fans will be required to leave their lot by the directions for their specific traffic zone. During the vast majority of the game there will be a normal traffic patter around Beaver Stadium.

Fans will be able to leave their lot any route one the one-way out-bound traffic pattern ends.

Any potential changes to the traffic and parking changes outlined in November will be announced prior to the April 13 Blue-White Game.
