Penn State freshman tight end Pat Freiermuth walked into a position group open to options.

With the departure of Mike Gesicki to the Miami Dolphins, Freiermuth competed with Jonathan Holland and Danny Dalton for playing time this season.

His role has expanded in recent weeks. He scored a touchdown against Illinois and again against Ohio State. Those were the first two Penn State touchdowns of his career. He also had three catches for 44 yards against the Buckeyes.

Watch the video above to hear from coach James Franklin on the impact of Freiermuth’s play.
