Three former Penn State wrestlers still have the opportunity to represent the United States at the world championships.

Nittany Lions David Taylor, Bo Nickal and Zain Retherford will compete at Final X Rutgers to try and earn spots on Team USA for the world championships.

Taylor will wrestle Pat Downey for the 86 kg roster spot. Retherford will match up with current Cornell wrestler Yianni Diakomihilas for the 65 kg roster spot. Nickal will try to upend Olympic Bronze medalist and world champion J’Den Cox for the 92 kg roster spot.

Taylor is a world champion and a two-time NCAA Champion. Downey just won the world team trials challenge tournament to take on Taylor for his spot on the team.

Retherford is a U.S. world team member. At Penn State, Retherford won three NCAA championships. Diakomihilas is a two-time NCAA Champion for Cornell and will enter his junior season next year.

Nickal just won his third NCAA championship for Penn State. He will try to defeat former Missouri wrestler J’Den Cox who has a world championship, an Olympic bronze and three NCAA championships as well.

Final X Rutgers is June 8.

Former Nittany Lion Jason Nolf fell to Isaiah Martinez in the world team trials challenge tournament finals this past weekend.
