Coach Pat Chambers has relayed nearly the same message after each Penn State basketball loss: “the team is close to breaking through.”

What else can you say when a team is now 0-9 in conference play?

Chambers continues to push optimism after each loss. Penn State does have a young team and has shown sparks of better play at times. Still, the losses continue to add up.

Penn State will host No. 17 Purdue Thursday night with a chance to break the losing streak and put the Nittany Lions in the win column.
