New Penn State wide receivers coach Gerard Parker is set to go to trial for a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood content of more than .08 and less than .15.

According to court documents, Parker was arrested on Feb. 21, 2017, after driving the wrong way down a one-way street in West Lafayette, Indiana. The trial was set to begin Thursday, Jan. 17, but now has been moved to April 18, 2019.

Penn State hired Parker after he coached wide receivers for two years at Duke. He has also coached at Purdue from 2013 to 2016 where he served as the interim head coach for the Boilermakers for the last six games of the 2016 season.

Penn State athletics released a statement saying the school was aware of Parker’s impending trial.

“During the hiring process, Gerad Parker was forthcoming and contrite about the personal mistake he made in 2017 and is willing to be held accountable for his actions. We areconfident he will be a great addition to our team and look forward to his joining us. “
