Penn State football opened spring football practice Wednesday.
Here is what we learned:
Presser Points:
Wide Receiver Mac Hippenhammer is still paying baseball. You might not see him as much in spring practice because of his baseball responsibilities. He plays as an outfielder for the Nittany Lions.
According to coach James Franklin, Penn State redshirt freshman offensive lineman Juice Scruggs will miss spring football practice after being in a car accident.
CJ Thorpe has moved positions back to playing offensive line. He played on the defensive line last season for Penn State as a redshirt freshman to help the team fill some depth with that position group.
Franklin said quarterback Tommy Stevens will be “limited” to start spring practice, but will participate. He says he is hopeful Stevens can get back to full go as practice rolls on. He missed the bowl game with an undisclosed injury and had to have surgery.
Penn State will play its annual Blue White Spring Game on Saturday, April 13.
