Penn State wrestler Shakur Rasheed announced he is coming back to Penn State for one more year of eligibility.
Rasheed made the announcement on Instagram.
Both Rasheed and national champion heavyweight Anthony Cassar were seeking medical redshirts for additional eligibility. Both were recognized on senior day for Penn State this past season and both will be returning.
Rasheed only wrestled six matches in the 2016-17 season and missed most of it because of an injury. A medical redshirt is likely the reason for his sixth year of eligibility.
Rasheed started for Penn State at 184 pounds this past season. He was the No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament before missing All-American honors. He finished seventh in 2018 for his only All-American finish.
