Penn State Hockey’s Brandon Biro is shining a little brighter Tuesday.

The junior forward picked up the NCAA First Star of the Week following his five point performance over the weekend against Minnesota.

Biro tied teammate Chase Berger (St. Louis, Mo.) for the national lead with five points last weekend securing his ninth and 10th multi-point games of the year in the process. The junior scored once while adding a pair of primary assists during a 7-2 rout on Friday night before adding another helper along with the eventual game-winning goal to complete the sweep on Saturday.

The alternate captain has already equaled each of his career-highs set last season as a sophomore with nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points. The junior’s 22 assists tie for 11th nationally and fourth in the Big Ten while his 31 points are good for ninth in the conference.
