Penn State will start the search for a new women’s tennis coach.
According to a Penn State athletics media release, women’s tennis coach Chris Cagle is stepping down to pursue “other professional opportunities in tennis.” The release includes a quote from Cagle stating he will be taking a job as the Director of Tennis at the Randy Pate Tennis Academy and LTP in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Cagle spent he last five seasons as the school’s head women’s tennis coach and served as an assistant men’s tennis coach for three years before that.
According to the release, Cagle’s resignation is effective on May 31. The search for the next coach will begin immediately.
Cagle’s five years as head coach include a Big Ten semifinal appearance and a top-four finish in the Big Ten standings.
Penn State had 11 wins in 2019 which was the most dual-match victories since 2015.
