The Penn State men built a 20-point lead in the second half – and then saw it dwindle away.
Penn State escaped Rutgers with a win Wednesday night 66-65. Rutgers had a chance to take a lead in the final 20 seconds off of a turnover, but could not convert on its final shot attempts.
Penn State led at halftime 35-19 before taking a 39-19 lead early in the second half.
Lamar Stevens led Penn State with 18 points. Mike Watkins added 14 rebounds along with eight points.
