First Nittany Lions Hit Field at NFL Combine

Three former Penn State players hoped to turn some heads in Indianapolis Friday.

Running back Miles Sander and offensive linemen Ryan Bates and Connor McGovern went through on-field drills at the NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Below are some of the results from Friday’s tests:

RB Miles Sanders

40-yard dash: 4.49 (tied for sixth best)

Bench Press (225 lbs): 20 reps (14th best)

Vertical Jump: 36 inches (tied for sixth best)

Broad Jump: 124 inches (sixth best)

Three-Cone Drill: 6.809 seconds (Best time of all running backs)

20-Yard Shuttle: 4.19 seconds (Third best)

60-Yard Shuttle: Did not compete

OL Ryan Bates

40-yard dash: 5.09 unofficial (Tied for tenth or offensive linemen)

Bench Press (225 lbs): 28 reps

Vertical Jump: 27 inches

Broad Jump: 102 inches

Three-Cone Drill: 7.45 seconds (third)

20-Yard Shuttle: 4.53 seconds (tied for fifth)

60-Yard Shuttle: Did not compete

OL Connor McGovern

Bench Press: 28 reps (tied for ninth for offensive linemen)

Vertical Jump: Did not compete

Broad Jump: 112 inches (tied for eighth)
