De La Bassetiere and Lakoseljac earn All-Big Ten honors

Penn State men’s tennis landed two players on the All-Big Ten first team Thursday.

Constant De La Bassetiere and Christian Lakoseljac earned first team honors.

“Over the course of the spring season, De La Bassetiere set a new program-best earning four Big Ten Athlete of the Week Awards. The previous high was set by Leonard Stakhovsky in the 2014 season when he collected the praise three times. 

Paired with GabrielNemeth (Brasilia, Brazil), the pair compiled a 22-10 overall record at the No. 1 doubles spot and a 4-4 record in the conference. The highlight of the duos year came in the fall when they were crowned the ITA Atlantic Regional Champions.They then went on to win the consolation bracket at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and place fifth overall.

This marks the senior captain’s fourth time receiving an All-Big Ten award.

Lakoseljac ends the year with an overall record of 21-8, a 19-4 spring record and a 9-2 record in the Big Ten. He is also 2-1 over ranked opponents, with his best win of the season coming against then-No. 30 John McNally of Ohio State, who joins De La Bassetiereas a unanimous first-team conference selection.

Lakoseljac earned two Big Ten Athlete of the Week Awards this season, including the first of the season and the first one for the program since 2014. 

When playing with ChristosAntonopoulos (Athens, Greece), the tandem went 15-8 overall and 8-2 in the Big Ten.

This is the junior’s first career first-team All-Big Ten award, as last year he won second-team honors. Lakoseljac was also chosen as the Nittany Lions’ Sportsmanship award winner as a student-athlete who has distinguished himself through sportsmanship andethical behavior.”
