Altoona’s Kevin Givens taking his NFL shot

He turned heads at Penn State and now he has his chance to stay on an NFL roster.

Former Penn State defensive tackle and Altoona native Kevin Givens did not hear his name in the 2019 NFL Draft after giving up his final year of elligibility for a shot at the league. He then signed an undrafted free agent deal with the San Francisco 49ers.

Givens did not put up eye-popping stats in 2018, but you could argue his numbers reflect his position as an interior defensive lineman opening up opportunities for others.

Givens finished with 33 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, and five sacks in his final season at Penn State at a junior.

We caught up with the Nittany Lion at Pro Day where he explained his decision to turn enter the draft. Watch the video above for more.
