The Saint Francis Red Flash women will play to extend the season Monday night led by the newly-named NEC player of the year.

The Northeast Conference named SFU guard Jess Kovatch player of the year Monday. It is Kovatch’s second player of the year award after winning it last year as well. According to a Saint Francis media release, Kovatch is just the fourth player in conference history to win the award in back-to-back years.

Kovatch is the leading scorer in SFU women’s and men’s basketball history. She averaged 21.2 points per game this year as a senior. She has 2,795 career points which is the most out of any active player in the NCAA.

Sophomore forward Haley Thomas, a Bishop McCort product, landed on the All-NEC Third Team as well.
