Steelers Running Back Le’Veon Bell will not report to the team this season according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Black and Gold franchise tagged him this past offseason and reached no long term deal by the July deadline. If Bell played this season, he would’ve played for $14.5 million.
Because he did not report by today’s 4 p.m. deadline, he is ineligible to compete this season and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters during his weekly news conference ahead of Sunday’s game with Jacksonville when asked about whether Bell talked to him said he had no contact with the running back. He also mentioned that if Bell doesn’t report, “so be it.”
