Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell did not report to practice Monday and did not sign his franchise tender.
Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert released a statement today:
“We are disappointed Le’Veon Bell has not signed his franchise tender and rejoined his teammates. Coach Tomlin and the coaching staff will continue to focus on preparing the players on our roster for our regular season opener on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.”

The team failed to reach a long-term deal with the running back in the offseason which led to Bell sitting out all of training camp.
Bell is set to lose a good chunk of change each week he misses:
It’s officially game week and @LeVeonBell watch is on. I’m headed to the #Steelers facility to see if the All-Pro RB shows up to sign his franchise tender. Each week he misses would cost him $853,000 pic.twitter.com/jnxqoareuZ— Chase Williams WPXI (@chasepwilliams) September 3, 2018
