Penns Valley softball is gearing up to strike out sarcoma.
The Lady Rams are raising funds to fight the rare disease through their game on Friday against Bald Eagle Area.
They were motivated by seeing the father of one of their junior high players have to battle 60 different tumors caused by the rare cancer.
“We wanted to do something that would help someone local,” said Penns Valley junior Cassidy Stover. “And we know he’s having some troubles right now. And sarcoma’s not a cancer that gets a lot of money and fundraisers.”
“There really isn’t much to help it. and it can happen to anyone,” said Penns Valley junior Alicia Houser. “So it’s important to the future to try to find the cure and raise money to do that.”
All of the money they raise will go to immunotherapy research at the Cancer Research Institute.
