The further a team goes in the playoffs, the further away from home they normally have to travel.  That’s not the case for the Golden Tigers.

Before this past Saturday, the Hollidaysburg boy’s basketball team hadn’t won a district title in a while, back in 2010 to be exact.

Now, the Golden Tigers are headed to the state tournament to take on West Mifflin.

“Like I said, this group of kids, we’ve been playing together since we were young,” said senior Max Sheetz.  “We’ve worked so hard and this was our goal and we were definitely determined to go get it.”

The guys say that being a part of the most recent D6 title team is something they’ve all been working towards their whole high school career.

“It means a lot because we put in a lot, us and the underclassmen, the guys before us put in a lot of work to try to get back and win some titles,” said senior Ryan Adams.

The Golden Tigers and West Mifflin will meet up at Tyrone High School on Friday night.

Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m.
