First-Ever Tomahawk Selected in NHL Draft

JOHNSTOWN – For the first time ever, a player from the Johnstown Tomahawks has been selected in the NHL Draft. Hawks goalie Ryan Bednard was taken in the seventh round (206th overall pick) Saturday by the Florida Panthers.

Bednard had a record of 16-16-5 with a 2.66 goals against average and .913 save percentage for Johnstown during the 2014-15 season.

The Macomb, Mich. native has committed to play college hockey at Bowling Green.
