Former Saint Francis forward Earl Brown has signed with the Cheshire Phoenix of the British Basketball League. Brown spent his first professional season in Iceland with Keflavik where he averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds per game.
“I am really excited for Earl,” SFU head coach Rob Krimmel said. “He had a great start to his professional career last year. We are all anxious to follow him this season and witness his continued growth on the court. Cheshire is getting a great player and an even better person.”
Brown finished his Saint Francis career ranked 11th in both scoring and rebounding. He finished with 1,373 career points, becoming the 39th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point barrier. He also finished with 792 career rebounds, surpassing SFU legend Norm Van Lier for 11th place late in his senior season. As a senior in 2014-15, Brown was named All-NEC First Team, NABC All-District and to the NEC All-Tournament Team.
“Earl was one of the first players we identified this summer, so we are really happy to have been able to bring him to the Phoenix,” Cheshire head coach Colin O’Reilly told the official BBL website. “Earl’s attitude and personality on and off the court really fits with what we are building here.”
The British Basketball League (BBL) has been at the pinnacle of British hoops since its inception in 1987, and represents the highest level of the professional game in the United Kingdom. There are 13 franchises in major cities and towns across the nation.
