Saint Francis senior defender Francis de Vries (Christchurch, New Zealand/Cashmere) has been named to the MAC Herman watch list for the second consecutive season.

The award is given to the nation’s best men’s and women’s soccer players. The senior is one of just 11 players to earn All-America status in 2015 to return to the list in 2016. The National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America (NSCAA) compiles the watch list; de Vries has been named an NSCAA All-American each of the last two seasons.

The Christchurch, New Zealand native also earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Defender of the Year honors each of the past two seasons and was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defender of the Year last season. The rising senior was second on the team in goals (6) and points (16) as a junior while helping lead a backline that limited opponents to just .89 goals per game and recorded eight shutouts.

de Vries and the Red Flash open the season with an exhibition against Salem International on August 18th, they open the regular season at Duquesne on the 26th.
