No Penn State prospect has drawn more pre-NFL Draft attention than quarterback Christian Hackenberg.

Just where the QB should go has created more debate in NFL circles than any other player in the nation.

Former NFL head coach John Gruden has said he’d be surprised if Hackenberg falls beyond the first round.

Some analytics-based sites have argued he’s not even worth a pick.

Ex-Penn State QB and NFL Network Analyst Michael Robinson is in the ‘Hackenberg as a work in progress’ camp.

“I think his future in the NFL is bright.  I don’t know if he’s a day one starter right now.  I just don’t know, depending on the system.  But I can tell you one thing.  He dealt with an NFL system his freshman year.  He was a young pup then, he’s a bulldog now, ok,” said Robinson.  “That doesn’t go anywhere.  He doesn’t just lose that information.  He doesn’t just lose that knowledge of NFL offenses.”

In Robinson’s eyes, Hackenberg is a day two draft prospect, somewhere in the second or third round.

Robinson calls Hackenberg the potential gem of those rounds.
