On Saturday, Altoona and State College will meet up twice on the high school hardwood, all before some people will eat lunch.  In the girl’s district championship game, it was Altoona who came out victorious in a grueling back and forth game in 2015.

A 40-16 win over Hollidaysburg sent Altoona back into the title game and brought their win total to 15 on the season.

We all know that Coach Colledge’s team likes to spread the floor on offense, but last night’s defensive performance is what they were looking for, as they prepare for a very potent Lady Little Lions squad, who’s edged them out twice the season.

“It tells us our defense is working,” said Amber Newberry.  “It keeps our momentum going for Saturday and our defensive skill which we needed to work on for Saturday to get our defensive skill the way that it should be for State College from Hollidaysburg.”

Stopping State College’s Kyla Irwin is key.

“We’re going to try to do what we can against her.  She’s 6’2.  She’s a phenom, that’s why she’s going to UConn.  We have a couple of things that we’re working on.  Whether they work or not, we’ll find out,” said Head Coach Miriam Colledge.

This one tips off at Mount Aloysius College, Saturday at 12:30 P.M., with the guy’s game following at 2 P.M.
