Following a 7-1 vote on Monday night, Altoona named Nick Felus their next head football coach.

“”We picked a winner here tonight in Nick Felus.   He’llbe coming in and his former job was as the offensive coordinator for Coatesville.  They’ve been in the state championship game, quad ‘A’ football in PA, he’s ready to make the jump into 6A as a head football coach here at Altoona.  We’re all very, very excited and think he’s going to do amazing things here,” said Altoona Athletic Director Phil Riccio.

As offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Red Raiders, Felus’ system led to some record setting offenses at the AAAA level.

“Expectations for him are one, to put our kids first and foremost,” added Riccio.  “Two, to bust his tail and do Altoona proud.  Football is a huge part of Altoona’s history and he’s going to be someone you’re going to be excited about.  You’re going to come and cheer on our kids and you’re going to come out to the stadium and watch us play.”
