A turn of the century barn is the home of Laurel Mountain Winery in Falls Creek.

They offer 25 selections, from Treasure Lake White to Rattlesnake Red.

“Just to see the people with the smiles on their face having such a good time, that’s the pleasure of wine making,” said owner Barbara Nordberg.

She runs the winery she started with her husband John. Since his death four years ago ago his college hobby of winemaking has become hers.

The family inherited a family farm in Driftwood decades ago.

“It was a tax write-off in the beginning and then we realized that we could make some money at this and enjoy it as well. We did it more for fun really,” said Nordberg.

The wines first included grapes grown on the farm and were bottled on the site, but not they’re produced at the barn with grapes from Lake Erie Vineyards.

The Nordbergs have won awards for their wines.

Barbara said the secret to their success, “trial and error.”

It’s a popular place on Saturdays in the summer. People fill the outside pavilion to enjoy good food, wine, and music.
