Take a walk in downtown Clearfield and you can see proof of a large scale revitalization effort well underway.

Loretta Wagner, the Mainstreet Manager for Downtown Clearfield says, “I’d like to see every store front full and have the community back downtown to shop local, buy local, and support our community.”

Loretta Wagner’s charged with leading the effort to restore and revitalize this county seat.  Her employer, the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation (CRC) has been installing park benches, planters, bike racks and trash cans thanks to donations from area businesses.  The new sidewalks  were paid for with help from the state.

She says, “we have a lovable community.  We have a walkable community.”

This is all in conjunction with the newly opened riverwalk. It was celebrated this spring with it’s own festival. The CRC plans many events, throughout the year, bringing folks into this vibrant downtown to shop and eat.

“It’s such a family loving community and it’s great to bring your kids up in an area like this,” Wagner tells us. “Yes, it is a small area and the economy isn’t as good as somewhere else, but it’s great to be able to say it’s our town.”

All summer long, Shaw Park here in Clearfield hosts a concert every Friday night.  The “Art of the River Festival” in downtown Clearfield is scheduled for August 20th.
