From hiking to boating, Clearfield County has endless options. Workers at Curwensville Lake believe their park could once again become the area’s premiere recreation spot.

Sasha Ryan likes to come to the lake because it is calm and quiet,”The campground is actually one of the nicest in the traveled across the country.  With the facility they have here it is very nice.”

This year park employees and volunteers made improvements to the campgrounds, picnic areas, and the beach.

“We did get seven new dock sections from Treasure Lake,” said park employee Mary Horner. “We put new boards on those that needed them and they look brand new, they’re really nice docks.”

There is more work to be done. Curwensville Lake is not state or county-owned. Funds are tight. Entrance to the park is $3 per vehicle, but when you have a lake with no horsepower restrictions, playgrounds, and a dog park people do not mind spending a few bucks.

One camper told us if he does not have exact change, he usually leaves a few extra bucks.

That money will be used to make improvements but also to bring more activities to the park.

54:45 I know they need that three dollars every time and even when they’re not at the gate I make sure I put it in there and if I don’t have three ones I just put a five in there because I know its going for the park.

In August, Activities Director Holly Knoll is excited for the Movie of the Lake event, “We did it last month and it was a huge success. “We hook the movie up down by the beach area, people bring blankets, chairs, sit down and watch a movie on the lake.”

Many of the regulars at the park say the waters here are a hidden gem.
