The business started out in a garage and is now supplying ammunition for hunters and organizations across the country.

“Only about ten percent of our customer base is here in Pennsylvania,” said Samantha Smitchko, Marketing Coordinator.

When you walk into Cutting Edge Bullets you quickly realize this is a high tech operation. Large metal rods are quickly cut to specific sizes.  Each goes through a multi-step cleaning and inspection process.

“Some bullets take 10 seconds, others take 25 seconds,” said Smitchko.

It’s not just bullets that keep these machines running 24 hour a day.

“We make small precision parts for a number of industries: aerospace, naval, military. So it’s really a broad spectrum of parts we can make and we do work for people across the country.”

Smitchko’s father started the business in 2001 out of his garage in Clearfield County.  Cutting Edge now takes over a 13,000 square foot facility and they may expand again.

Smitchko said the industry is growing rapidly and that could lead to more jobs for the region.
