Woman remembered after murder-suicide

Friends are in shock after police say a woman died in an apparent murder-suicide.

Funeral services are set for Thursday for a woman found dead in a home near Mineral Springs.

Police say she was killed during a domestic dispute that started outside the home and moved inside.

Police cars and ambulances rushed to the home on Friday, where police say they found two people with stab wounds.

Over the weekend, some of the woman’s friends changed their Facebook profile pictures to purple “stop domestic violence” ribbons.

We have more details on the investigation.

Police say someone saw a fight going on here in the front yard on Hillbilly Lane, where a man stabbed a woman with a knife.

After breaking in the front door, police say they found Tammy Sipe, 43, with multiple stab wounds, and in another room, Donald Edward Peters, 46, Mineral Springs, with the knife, having stabbed himself.

We spoke with a man who just saw Sipe last week at the Clearfield County Fair with her grandson.

“We kind of waved and said hi,” says family friend Michael Wood.

Wood said his mom was good friends with Sipe in high school, and she served as a babysitter while he was growing up.

“I remember her taking me to the pool. She was a really good babysitter, a really good woman. It’s sad to see her go this early,” says Wood.

He says from what he knew, the couple had an on-again, off-again relationship, and added that Sipe leaves behind two grown children.

“She was a people person. She liked to have fun. She loved her kids so much and her grandson,” says Wood.

“I never thought that something like that would happen around this area,” says neighbor Chuck Mitchell.

Mitchell says he was home on Friday, but didn’t notice anything unusual due to a noisy gas line project on Hogback Hill.

“I really didn’t see anything, because on Friday night, they were running equipment,” says Mitchell.

Police say it took them about four minutes to arrive, and that both Sipe and Peters died at the home.
