A Punxsutawney woman accepted a new sentence this morning after appealing her original animal cruelty sentence.
Sandy Blagdan, 46, pleaded guilty for neglecting 18 dogs. She will report Friday evening for a two-day jail sentence.
Judge John Foradora accepted her new plea agreement at an appeal hearing in Brookville today. She was originally ordered to serve 170 days in jail by a magistrate.
The dogs were found in a filthy basement and most were later adopted in Clearfield.
“We’re very pleased with the outcome today. Our main purpose with this was to seek justice for the two dogs definitely that had passed,” says Jefferson County humane police officer Debbie McAndrew. “If people have problems, please call us before it gets to this bad of a situation. We’re here to help.”
Blagdan also got 18 months probation and must pay more than $5,000. She can’t own animals until 2021.
Her ex-husband was also in court and got access to the house on Spring Road near Big Run.
