The coroner says a Karthaus woman is dead after being crushed by her own riding lawn mower.

Sandra Maney, 57, was cutting grass on a steep hill near her home when she hit a landscape retaining wall and was thrown off the mower, which then landed on her, coroner Mike Morris said.

Deputy coroner Mike Polachek determined that the longtime postmaster died from asphyxiation around 5 p.m. on Thursday, according to a press release.

Her funeral is set for 7 p.m. on Sunday with a wake at 3 p.m. at the Karthaus Community Alliance Church.
