A Clearfield man is organizing a River Walk this weekend to help flood victims.
The 82-year-old says he named the walk after his wife, Diana, who died in March from a brain tumor. They were married for sixty years.
He is encouraging people to take a healthy jaunt around the river, including the new Riverwalk, and plans to give all the money to the Clearfield Ministerium for flood victims.
“It’s eight-tenths of a mile to make that walk and so people just will basically be donating $5 and that gives them an opportunity to get one of the prizes and we have many that will be listed at Lower Witmer Park,” says Diana L. Smith Memorial River Walk organizer Marven Smith.
Walkers who want to take part are invited to the park gazebo on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A prize drawing follows on Sunday.
