The Route 3045 (Waddle Road) project is continuing near State College.
Short-term closures on northbound I-99 will take place Monday night, August 8 for deck replacement on the project. Northbound lanes will be closed from 11 P.M. Monday through 5 A.M. Tuesday and from 11 P.M. Tuesday through 5 A.M. Wednesday. I-99 northbound traffic will be diverted using the northbound on/off ramps. Traffic signals at the ramp intersections will be on flash mode with flaggers guiding drivers through the intersections. Travel delays should be expected.
Short-term closures on southbound I-99 will take place Tuesday night, August 9 for deck replacement on the project. Southbound lanes will be closed from 11 P.M. Tuesday through 5 A.M. Wednesday. I-99 southbound traffic will be diverted using the southbound on/off ramps. Traffic signals at the ramp intersections will be on flash mode with flaggers guiding drivers through the intersections. The I-99 Southbound closure will be changed to a passing lane closure from 5 A.M. to 8 A.M. Travel delays should be expected.
When complete, the project should ease traffic congestion in the area. Improvements include:
- A new, wider Waddle Road bridge spanning Route 322 in Patton Township
- Extension of a box culvert just north of the Route 322 bridge
- Addition of a turn lane on the Route 322 westbound off-ramp
- Addition of turning lanes at the Colonnade Boulevard/Waddle Road intersection
- Addition of bike lanes on Waddle Road from Colonnade Boulevard to Toftrees Avenue
- Waddle Road signal upgrades at Route 322 off-ramps and Colonnade Boulevard intersection
- Roadway widening on Waddle Road from Strouse Avenue to Toftrees Avenue
PennDOT expects this design/build project to span the 2016 and 2017 construction seasons, with all work weather and schedule dependent. PennDOT will issue project updates as work progresses. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $14.1 million job.
