A unique pageant brings people together in the nation’s capital, to learn about the history of the United States.

One Pennsylvanian soldier pays tribute to those who came before him.

Army specialist Eric Chapka from Beach Lake contributes to his country in a unique way. As he calls it,  “It’s a fantastic show, it really is.”

People from all over the country come to see Twilight Tattoo that dates back all the way before World War II.

Chapka is part of this summertime performance that tells the countries’ history through the battles the nation has endured.

Cahpka calls it a real honor. “Not a lot of people get to do this. It’s important because I think sometimes people forget where we came from and what we’ve done as the army to help progress the American public.”

It’s Chapka’s job to remind us of that.

“This flag is our nation’s symbol, a flag of honor,” as Chapka narrates.

Chapka says he feels privileged to do this; although he admits he doesn’t know the full experience of his predecessors.  “I get to pull out my phone after this and lay in air conditioning so I can’t say I feel connected.”

But his way of paying tribute to his country is this 60-year-old tradition.
