Winter weather and Interstate 80 travel restrictions caused many truck drivers to pull off the roads for the day.
“It’s getting pretty bad out there, ice is starting to form, it’s kind of thick, so I decided to get off the road for safety,” Devon Gadison said.
PennDOT put restrictions in place on I-80– lowering speed limits to 45 mph and banning some vehicles, including empty and double-trailer trucks.
Even some truck drivers allowed on the roads decided it wasn’t a good idea.
“I just don’t feel comfortable in this,” Bob Orris said. “It’s all about safety, I’d rather pull over and not have an accident than take that chance.”
PennDOT says they try to keep the roads passable, which might not mean completely cleared, so it’s best to use caution when out on the roads.
