Thousands attend first annual Heritage Festival

Thousands gathered for the first annual Northern Cambria County Regional Heritage Festival Saturday.

More than 120 booths were set up and visitors were treated to live music throughout the day as well as plenty of children’s activities.

Organizers said about 8,000 people came out to the event, one they’re hoping to expand in the future.

“It’s important because the area we live in is very depressed. It was once a very thriving area with the coal industry. We just wanted to have an event where we could celebrate our heritage, but also look forward to the future,” Annette Wholaver, Community Development Director, said.

Organizers hope next year will be a two day event and eventually a weekend event.
