Centre County courthouse and county offices are expanding, thanks to a multi-year and multi-million dollar project.

The Temple Court Building renovation project has been a long time coming. Friday morning, Centre County Commissioners celebrated its grand opening.

The county’s probation and parole department will take over the first and second floors of the building. The district attorney’s offices will occupy the third and fourth floors.

The 34,000 square foot space is a welcomed addition for those who will fill it.

“This is going to minimize those distractions throughout the course of the day and just allow for a much better working environment,” Ronnie Millward, a supervisor in the Probation & Parole department, said.

Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said the new space will allow the office to grow.

“In the past decade or so, the DA’s office case management and handling cases has doubled from 1,500 to 3,000 matters,” she said. “There’s just been no room to grow to add complimentary, needed staff. This move will allow for that.”
