Teen killed in crash

State Police are investigating after a teenage boy was killed in a car accident early Saturday morning in Indiana County.

16-year-old Kai Hrabovsky was killed around 3:50 Saturday morning after he left a prom after party.

He was walking alongside Mount Zion Road in Pine Township.

“What happened was a jeep wrangler being operated by a 20 year-old male from Homers City, Pennsylvania was traveling South along Mt. Zion road in Pine Township, Indiana County. The vehicle exited the roadway and struck a 16 year old male pedestrian,” explained State Police Public Information Officer Clifford Greenfield.

Police say the driver was under the influence.

“The driver we believe fled the scene and returned to his residence. Troopers located him at his residence and he was then taken into custody,” Greenfield said.  “No charges have been filed. The suspect was released from custody pending further investigation.”

The Indiana County Coroner says that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Hrabovsky was a sophomore at Homer Center High School. School Principal Jody Rainy said that the school will be offering counseling for students starting Monday.

State Police ask if anyone witnessed that accident or has any more information to give them a call.

Funeral arrangements have been made at C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City.
