Police have identified another suspect  involved in a case that they say started as a robbery, then turned into a kidnapping and ended with rape.

Joshua Adachi is facing numerous charges and police believe he was the ringleader in the crime.

Police said around 1 a.m. on December 17, he drove to a home on the 2100 block in Altoona, joined by William Vaughn, Dominic Sweeney and two other men.

Court documents say Adachi convinced them that inside the home were stolen guns belonging to him and after breaking in, the group separated the couple living there.

While they kidnapped and interrogated the man living in the home, Vaughn stayed back to make sure the girlfriend wouldn’t try to call for help.

Police said Vaughn raped her, but police were told that wasn’t part of the plan adding that Vaughn confessed immediately.

Police said the group realized they targeted the wrong home.

Adachi’s charges include kidnapping, robbery, criminal trespass and harassment.

His preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 11.
