45 high school football players were honored Sunday at the 20th Annual Central Pennsylvania National Football Foundation dinner.
WTAJ’s KC Kantz was the emcee for the event.
Since 1998, the Central Pennsylvania Chapter has honored $217,000 in scholarships to student athletes in the area.
There were also awards for lifetime contributions to football — one recipient who is an official — says there are still ways to stay involved with football after high school careers.
Lou Idzojtic, a life time contributor to football award winner said, “I started out refereeing intramurals in 1969 and here I am actually 48 years later. I’m still officiating. I will encourage young people to get into it. It’s a good way to stay active especially if you like the sport.”
The Central PA Chapter has a wide reach of 20 counties and 92 high schools.
