The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that prime contractor Kurkurin Contracting, Inc. of Export will begin work on Monday, August 1, on a project to replace the Route 4001 (Bakersville-Edie Road) Kooser Run Bridge in Jefferson Township, Somerset County.

Work on this project consists of the removal of the existing structure and replacing it with a pre-cast reinforced concrete rigid frame structure, along with minor roadway approach work, and other miscellaneous construction..
An eight mile signed detour will be in place until approximately September 9. Traffic will use Route 31 (Glades Pike), T-860 (Laurel Run Road), T-417 (Mountain View Road),T-583 (Duck Pond Road), and Route 4001.
All work on this $762,341 project will be completed by late September, 2016.
