The sister of a murder suspect spoke with WTAJ for an exclusive interview.

Angela Hill, Danelle Geier’s sister, said she can’t believe what her family is involved in.

Geier was arrested late Saturday night, charged in the murder of Penn State Associate Professor Ronald Bettig.

HIll said that if Geier is proven guilty “She deserves whatever punishment she gets.”

Hill said when it mattered most, her sister lied to her.

State police said Geier and George Ishler Jr. plotted together, to lure Bettig to a quarry off of Rimmey Road in Potter Township on August 12th.

Investigators said the two allegedly convinced Bettig it would be a good spot to harvest marijuana and drove him to the quarry with the intent to kill him.

According to court documents, Geier waited in the car while Ishler and Bettig walked to the quarry.

When they got there, Ishler allegedly pushed Bettig over the edge, causing him to fall about 80 ft. to his death.

A death Hill said Bettig did not deserve.

Hill said Ishler is her and Danelle’s uncle and both have a history with drugs.

“Drugs isn’t an excuse, mental illness isn’t an excuse, there’s no excuse for killing someone–none,” Hill said.

She said at one point, Geier and her baby were homeless and Bettig let them live with him before the two began a romantic relationship.

“Ron was amazing, he took my sister in. He took care of her. He put a roof over her head,” Hill said.

Police said Ishler and Geier waited three days before reporting Bettig missing and his body was found two days later.

Hill says amongst a possible criminal family affair, she has nothing but respect for the beloved professor and his family.

“I am so sorry for their loss, I really am,” Hill said.

Both Ishler and Geier have been denied bail.

Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 31st.
